I heard several ppl weighing in about the Ole Miss Fight song. Let me just say as a true Ole Miss fan, I've been a fan for about 22 years now, I hate that the song is gone. I heard ppl talking about tradition tonight on the show but the saying the south will rise again was not a tradition. It should not be said, it is offensive and I'm embarrassed every time I hear ppl saying it. I can understand the other side of the issue a little but I agree with Shepard Smith on this one. The song itself is a medley of Dixie and Battle Hymn of the Republic which was the Union battle song. We have a lot of great tradition at Ole Miss but this was not one of them and now we have lost a great song because ppl would not give up this stupid saying. I'm hoping something can be worked out to bring the song back but we have to have more understanding between both sides of this issue. It appears that this will not go away and it makes us look very bad given our history. I thought maybe we had turned a corner on the racial issue but it looks like we've still got a long way to go.

I am just glad the song has been banned because of the saying at the end of it.
However, I think the fans could have the song come back as long as they agree to not do the saying at the end.

I agree jonathanwest, there was nothing wrong with the song and I bet there will always be those people who will find a situation to yell stuff like that whether the song is there or not.
